To coincide with Columbia being at the epicenter of the eclipse, Gamecock Athletics announced a “Black Out” for the 2017 football home opener against Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 16.

All Gamecock fans are encouraged to match the team on the field by wearing all black for the 7:30 p.m. kickoff against the SEC Eastern Division rival Wildcats. The game will be televised on SEC Network.

Special “Forever To Thee” apparel will be available in stores next week but they can be preordered online now.

The Gamecocks open the second season of the Will Muschamp era on Saturday, Sept. 2 against NC State at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. South Carolina travels to Missouri to open SEC play the following week. The home opener against Kentucky is the first of seven home games this season.
