Gamecock baseball to open fall practice with open scrimmages

Mark Kingston will begin preparing for his first season as South Carolina's new head baseball coach with fall practice this week. 

The fall season will kick off with two scrimmages that are open to the public. 

Gamecock players put up big numbers in summer-league play

The Gamecocks will hold their first weekly scrimmages on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Founders Park. 

Kingston, the former head coach at South Florida, took over the program on June 30. 

The Gamecocks, who have made 11 appearances in the College World Series, finished 35-25 under former coach Chad Holbrook last season.
